UNCLONED WORLD - destination australia
WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA, THE AMAZING LAND DOWNUNDER! This is your guide to this incredible 8 million square kilometers of low-lying arid land and eucalyptus trees otherwise known as Terra Australis, the Great Southern Land! This is the only continent on Earth inhabited by one race, under one government, speaking one language. But this is also a nation torn by contradictions, haunted by the disappearance of its Aboriginal predecessors, and struggling to find its place in the outside world. A place of stupendous spiritual beauty, but also somewhat soulless, empty. Sometimes, especially when touring the Outback, you feel that the country has in fact died, and you are merely visiting a great gravesite, an empty silent windswept ruin. But there is so much more to Australia than that! In this website -- this UNCLONED WORLD website -- I want to introduce you to the real Australia, the Australia I was born into and experienced as a native for the first 27 years of my life -- before the unresolved contradictions of the land finally forced me to leave. Of course, the real "essence of Australia" could never be put into words, for geographical essences are always wordless. But in this travel guide I want to present the reader with information and a perspective you will not get elsewhere, and I want to highlight attractions not usually on the tourist track.

Australia has become popular with tourists and travellers in recent years because of its outstanding and uncorrupted natural attractions. The enormous sense of scale in Australia has to be experienced to be believed -- this is a country where people often travel 100 miles to get to their local supermarket, and farmers use aircraft to patrol their properties. Australia is also one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world, with a large portion of its species found nowhere else in the world. Strange, prehistoric plants and animals abound, and the air is filled with the riotous colors of dusty parrots. In this guide I want to introduce you to some of the quirkier, off-the-beaten-track places of interest in this enormous country, and highlight some of the quirkier aspects of its history and culture. Australia is a strange place, and its strangeness deserves to be recognised and celebrated. Australia is also endowed with such a sense of, well, Australianness that if you open yourself to it, it will soak into you and pervade your being if you visit there. You just have to be open enough to experience it. Through this humble website, I hope to help you open you a little a bit, to experience the real Australia, the Australia you will never find in a standard travel guide...

Let me introduce then, to the real Australia!

THE UNCLONED WORLD: UNCLONED WORLD is dedicated to revealing the true essences and hidden natures of a world quickly being conquered and converted by McCapitalism. In a sense, we live today in the Age of the Clone -- cities all over the world are being made into clones of each other, with McDonalds and Starbucks Coffee Houses on every corner. Traditional cultures and modes have dressed are being abandoned, in favor of a global monoculture of Coca-Cola and MTV. The world is becoming smaller and less interesting at precisely the same time that record numbers of people have the ability to travel to far-flung corners of it. In this age of LONEKY PLANET, how could we ever hope to recapture the exotic thrills that Marco Polo must have felt when he set off into the void? UNCLONED WORLD is an attempt to recapture the thrill factor. This website shows that just beneath the modern veer which has been thrown across the surface of the whole world, the old order still lives. All you have to do is raise your consciousness enough to see this sacred order -- the hidden exoticness of space. Travel can still be as exciting today as it was in the time of Marco Polo. You just need an open mind and a pair of open eyes!
