One of the more fascinating of the many castes and races of the subcontinent, the Siddis are an Indian people of African descent. Said to number up to 50,000, found in places like Gujarat, where they practice <a href="http://www.crowdedworld.com/sufismforbeginners.html">Sufi Islam</a>, and are renowned for their mastery of the drum. They have been called the <a href="http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/special.html">least visible aspect of the global African diaspora</a>.
