MANY AGED CARE centres in Australia are operated by religious denominations. I am not sure why that is the case. Perhaps it is because of the tax breaks! Uniting Care has won praise for some of their pioneering work, and I "volunteered" at one of their properties myself in the mid 10s. That was on the New South Wales' Central Coast, which is possibly the best place in Australia for this kind of work. There are also nursing homes run by the Catholic Church.
