Vietnam: Land of the Southern Viets
VIETNAM IS ONE OF THE MOST INTRIGUING NATIONS OF SOUTHEAST ASIA, WITH A HEROIC HISTORY. It is a poetic country too, and a musical one... in fact it excels at all of the arts.
Literally meaning "the Land of the Southern Viets", Vietnam has fought for its freedom for 1000 years. For much of that time, China has been the enemy. From time to time, other invaders have arrived, and been dispelled.
Nonetheless, the culture and religion of Vietnam does seem to be derived from China. They use chopsticks, they eat rice, and they used to read and write Chinese ideograms. For all of their antagonism, their political system seems almost identical.
